✂ Commission

Well, if you haven't noticed by now, 90% of the work I do is on commission - what this means is that someone contacts me about having something specific made just for them, and we talk about fabrics, design elements, budget, and all that good stuff, and if everything is good on both ends, I make them something just for them, built to their body, for whatever occasion!

If this is something you're interested in having done, by all means, send me an inquiry about it!

I do warn that, as I am only one person, emails tend to get backed up rather easily (especially when I am going a little crazy with working on orders - sewing them in time takes precedence over answering emails for new inquiries). On top of that, I am only one person, and all of the patterns I use are hand-made off of your measurements, not general sizes and the like, so it can take longer for me to produce a garment than a manufacturer or someone in a foreign company at a sweat shop.

Usually, I ask that you inquire 3 to 4 months before you need your garment, costume, or whatever. The actual construction process can take as long as 3 months (especially if materials need to be special ordered) or as little as a week - it all depends on my work load at the time, and my sanity as well ;3

Also, you'd be surprised at my pricing, especially for cosplay costumes. Granted, nothing I make a full costume of is under $100, however, I am incredibly comparable to those cheap costumes you find on eBay - I recently took a look at some of them, and was shocked to see that their prices were, on average, only 25% less than having me make something that I can promise will look (and fit, but that's another ramble for another time) 10 times better!

All right! That aside, I'm sure you'd like to know how to contact me, correct?

Inquiring about a costume does not, in any way, create an obligation on your behalf to purchase it. We will not begin construction on the costume unless we receive at least a partial payment, so don't worry. This is not a contract!

Also, as a bit of a related note, we will always try to set up a payment plan for your costume so long as we have a deadline that isn't cutting it too close.

How the whole inquiry process works is that you will send me this email, with these details in it (some of them sound odd, like your weight, height and general size, but don't worry - the costumes are built off of your actual measurements, but this just gives me an idea if there are any modifications to the outfit that I can suggest - I'm a plus-sized woman who loves to cosplay, which, unfortunately, is a little difficult, but in years of doing it, I have learned a few tricks on how to modify an outfit to fit different body types ;P)

Then, we'll talk back and forth about the outfit - I usually like to give you as much control over the outfit as possible, such as fabric options, details, and, if it's looking to be an especially expensive outfit, options on the parts that you can do yourself, to bring the cost down for you.

Once everything is agreed upon, I'll send you the final cost, a list of measurements I'll need, as well as the information on our agreed payment method and payment plan information, if you are interested in using one of those.

Then, I get the fabric and start sewing! I try to upkeep this blog to keep you informed about what I'm working on at any given time, but usually, if you are curious about how the outfit is progressing, you can just send me an email and I'll try to get back ASAP. I try to send work in progress pictures when I can, but usually, it's just that I'm rather on a roll and don't have a chance to break to take pictures, or the pictures would look like a pile of fabric hit by a whirlwind for the most part.

I do send out pictures before shipping if the deadline is not a tight one. I not only check the garment measurements against the actual measurements, but I keep track of those as well - if your measurements are not taken correctly, it truly isn't my fault, which is why I do my very best to tell you how to take accurate and correct measurements.

I ship the costume out, and wait anxiously for you to tell me what you think of it once it arrives! I also absolutely adore people who send me pictures (only about 5% of customers do, though, which is a little sad sometimes) and I freak out when I see them loving something I created for them!

So, that was exceptionally long, was it not? But, I hope you have an understanding of how my commission process works, and don't feel intimidated at all about sending an inquiry my way :)
