Video Tutorial: How to make costume wings

Happy (almost) Holidays!

Life has seemed to take another thwack at us, but luckily, everything is slowly straightening itself out.

About three weeks ago, my mother went to the doctor with some pains. Long, arduous series of tests later, and they found out that she had a humongous tumor in her belly area that needed to be removed. She was promptly taken in for surgery, which lasted twice as long as they told us it would.

Turns out, the tumor was (quoting the surgeon) "the size of a small watermelon."

Just got the results from the biopsy, too - they sent it out to three different labs just to be sure, but it's not cancerous *phew*

I've been the only person around and able to help take care of her (she was cut basically "stem to stern" as she puts it), and that has put a huge cramp in working time. Not that I mind - I love my mother, and I'm glad to help her however I can. It's just that I haven't even checked my email since she went in, much less shipped anything out.

Rectified that this afternoon, however. Shipped a ton of stuffs out. Bought a ton more leather. And holidays are going to kick ass if you're looking for nerdy goods to give to a loved one :3

So, just a quick update from my land, and wishing you and yours a happy Thanksgiving!

Updating woes

I have just realized that my site is in dire need of some attention, but I'm stuck as to how to add everything that it needs. I shall have to ponder on it some more - right now, I'm unsure if I want to take the time to add all of the leather journals (especially the Steampunk ones) I've been making (listed on Etsy) to my site, or if I should instead focus on getting all of the corsetry and clothing I have been creating up there.

You see, do I add each of the journals individually for their own little piece of the gallery, or do I clump them together and only have two or three entries in the category? And then, how do I group them? There really is next to no rhyme or reason how I go about creating them - perhaps by color?

No matter what, however, I really need to give my web site some love - my last "official" update to the gallery was well over a year ago, and so much more has been created that I should really get up there. Steampunk clothing, corsetry, leather masks, other leatherworks (perhaps I could have a category of "leather accessories?") and so much more! I'm overwhelmed!

Long time, no see?

I have been meaning to write something here for a while now, but just like with DeviantART, every time I start, I can never find the right words! I hate it when this happens…

I realize I have disappeared again, and I am very sorry for that. I have not responded to any commission inquiries, nor have I been able to work on anything other than little bits for short periods of time. I am behind on a commission that I have to get done as soon as possible (a blue heartless wa-loli that I just need to make the corset for!) and, of course, the pile of emails.

If you hadn't noticed, too, I had closed up my Etsy store for the time being. I could not manage to keep it up, and ship things out, so it is closed until I am able to regain control of my life.

I am very sorry about this. The root of the matter is mostly personal, although I will say that I have been having some serious emotional problems that my doctor advised me to seek treatment for ASAP, and I have been working through them. All in all, I'm thinking people are more understanding if I take longer to get back to working speed than if I no longer lived on this Earth ^^

So, please bear with me, be patient, and I swear, I will be back to sewing amazing cosplay pieces as soon as I can :3

<3 you all!

Video Tutorial: Felting old wool sweaters

I apologize for the lengthy absence, I'll write a post about that shortly, but until then, here is a video that my husband and I put together for where he works to show the process of how to felt a sweater, which you can then upcycle into something new and fun!

It is short, only about a minute and a half, so take a moment and watch it (and yes, there is no audio stream with it)

(more info can be found under the DeviantART submission description itself, if you are interested)
